Sports Activity Programme covers the following sporting activities: swimming, football, basketball and indoor climbing, gymnastics, yoga, aikido, ballroom dancing, dance fitness on weekdays and Saturdays for both Primary and Secondary students.
Sports are based on students’ interests and PSI’s capacity to have coaches for each sport in this programme.
Sports are scheduled based on the availability of coaches and also the availability of PSI facilities.
They are also conducted all year in each of the 3 seasons.
Grade levels / groupings are split up over the course of the week.
During Saturday Activities, students are permitted on campus only for school sponsored activities. Once the activities are over, the School does not provide supervision on campus and all students must go home.
All Primary students must have a designated adult responsible for picking them up after their activity on Saturday. The adult must sign the pickup form with the activity teacher after the class is finished.
Usually the following system below is used:
The programme uses the CHQ Sign Up System. This is a preference-based system, in which all parents indicate preferences for their child/ren and the computer algorithm places as many children as it can into their first preference activity.
The CHQ programme also uses the The Waiting List function, which allows us to add students if spaces become available or to prioritise them for the next season.
After the closing date for registration, no more changes can be made for the season, unless there is a cancellation of a class due to very low numbers. This decision has been made to prevent disruption to the SAP process. The exception is new PSI students who join after the SAP season is underway. Activities are offered to these students according to availability of places and possibilities of adding them to the activity.

PSI KYIV PANTHER ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT
PSI Athletic Department are very proud of the opportunities that have been created for all the students at PSI Panthers; we believe in the value of healthy living attained by participation in athletics from the very young ages through the high school years.
Athletic activities, particularly in a school setting, play an important role not only in regards to the physical component, but also for the emotional and intellectual well-being of the students.
Through athletics, leadership qualities are being developed and nourished from the daily experiences. Virtues, such as discipline, sportsmanship, effort, respect, motivation and pride are emphasised and make up the core of our philosophy.
A variety of Athletics Programmes are offered, starting from the young ages, with the intention of introducing athletics activities to the participants. In addition, a number of competitive athletics programmes are offered to older students (Primary, Middle School and High School), providing opportunities for competitive play locally as well as internationally (KSSL and CEESA teams).
We strongly believe that our Athletics Programmes are matched by no other school in the region and we are very proud of what we provide every year to our community. Through the years, the interest and involvement of the students are the driving force for our programmes to exist and all our efforts focus on providing the best services for them!
Pechersk School International (PSI) recognises the importance of athletics in providing students with important opportunities for a total education. These programmes teach students lifetime values such as commitment, discipline, hard work, leadership, teamwork, and physical fitness, all of which are the foundation for academic success. Participation in athletics/activities contributes to the physical, emotional and social health of our students and promotes a sense of unity and cooperation among athletes, the student body, and the PSI community.
Our athletics teams will always strive to win, but never at the expense of character, healthy attitudes and habits, and good judgment. We will always emphasise excellence, effort, improvement, and respect for coaches, teammates, opponents and officials. All PSI athletes should be known for their character and class: humble in victory and gracious in defeat. At the Middle School level especially, winning is a goal but is less important than participation and skill development. Regardless of level, however, our athletic programme is designed to develop, promote and provide self esteem, school spirit and pride, good citizenship, sportsmanship, cooperation, higher academic performance, responsibility to self and others, respect, positive role models, healthy lifestyles, team- building, and lifelong wellness. We believe that the sports experience should be not only rewarding but fun.
PSI further recognises the unique roles and responsibilities of its coaches and parents in sports. Coaches’ and parents’ primary roles should be to teach the lifetime values of our athletics philosophy and always to lead by example. The PSI athletic programmes are an integral part of the school and the community. Their impact is immensely important in promoting a positive school climate because they offer opportunities for adults to interact with our students in meaningful ways not available in the classroom.
We hope that you will take the opportunity to explore what is available for you (your children).
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
